My Experience

I had difficult teenage years. Lost my mother to a sudden stroke in 2001. I was 15 at the time, which was already difficult, but even more difficult as an only child. I began an apprenticeship under my father in 2006 and learned the drywall trade.
In 2008 the housing market crashed. I watched so many contractors that my dad worked for go under. We transitioned from being a drywall subcontractor to a plaster/drywall repair specialist. This allowed us to to work for homeowners and what few remaining contracting companies that remained much more frequently. The work wasn't steady by any means, but it was enough for us to get by.
In 2016 I was offered a job as a Office Worker for one of the contractors my father and I had been working for regularly. I accepted and began learning another side of the contruction industry that I was previously unaware of. Shortly after my hiring, my father was also hired by the same company full time.
Now, I am the Office Manager there. I implemented a call center to help customers find the right company member to assist them. I've created estimating documents to assist our estimators out in the field. I'm the primary administrator for our company's accounting software, and oversee two other office workers. The company grew from grossing 1.5 million to 3.5 million in the time that I've been working here.
My Interests
Video games have been a great interest of mine since a very young age. I also have a deep love of sketching, drawing, painting, and writing. I used to draw nearly every day from Elementary to High School. I've since stopped drawing as frequently, though I have created a few pieces of art for family members.
In my younger years I attempted to write a book, and spent a lot of time creating the world. I wrote about 10 chapters before ultimately abandoning the project. I realized that, though I had an easy time world building, I had a difficult time focusing in on the finer details.
The skills I developed ended up aiding me in another, more recent interest of mine. I became a DM for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign. I used the world I had created in my younger years to create a collaborative story with my friends. The first campaign I ran lasted over 5 years.
Now that I am getting my Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems I can see many different ways to improve both my work life and personal life.

My Dreams

I'm currently working towards my dream of making a video game. I'm currently the writer for a video game company on the side, and I'm planning on using my current coding abilities to begin assisting with the main program.
Another goal of mine is to write and publish a novel based on the world that I used in my D&D campaign. I'm not sure when I'll get around to that, but I intend to begin working on it after college
Somewhere amongs all of these dreams, I hope to find the love of my life and start a life with her. I may be 35, but I haven't given up hope.
I want to start investment accounts for my cousin's children, in the hopes of giving them access to higher education without suffering debt. I want to buy a little house and carve out a little slice of heaven for myself and my loved ones.
